Riverdale Star K.J. Apa Will Replace YouTuber Kian Lawley In Upcoming Movie

Riverdale star K.J. Apa is going to replace YouTuber Kian Lawley in the upcoming drama ‘The Hate U Give’ from Fox, after the studio announced that they dropped Lawley.

According to Variety, Lawley was removed from the project in February after videos surfaced in which he uttered racist slurs.

Kian released the following statement about the drop: “I respect Fox’s decision to recast this role for The Hate U Give as it is an important story, and it would not be appropriate for me to be involved considering the actions of my past. I understand the impact and I have grown and learned since then. From now on I plan to use my voice for positive change.” 

He was supposed to play the boyfriend of movie star Amandla Stenberg who has the main role in the movie, thus now taken over by K.J. Apa.
