Netflix Reveals Why “Everything Sucks!” Was Cancelled After First Season
While Netflix process almost everything and have a huge amount of data stored, they keep this information mostly to themselves.
In a new interview with Vulture, however, vice-president Cindy Holland has gone quite in-depth about a variety of topics, including the reason why the Netflix original series Everything Sucks! was cancelled.
The show had quite the fanbase established in the short amount it’s been live, but it wasn’t enough for Netflix to renew it. In the interview with Vulture, Holland shared that the show unfortunately just didn’t generate enough interest among its users. She shared:
“It sucks that it didn’t have a broader audience. We couldn’t get out of that core appeal.”
The amount of people who watched was apparently too little, but it was also due to the fact that a lot of people started watching the first season and didn’t get around to finishing it. For Netflix, this is also key when it comes to renewing or cancelling shows. In the case of Everything Sucks!, a lot of the people who started watching the original Netflix series, didn’t finish the entire season.
Netflix doesn’t necessarily care whether you binch a show or not, but they do keep track of whether you’ve finished an entire season in a certain timespan which will remain unknown.
