Netflix Might Start Buying Theaters To Show Original Content On The Big Screen
Netflix has changed the entire TV and film industry with their service, that’s for sure.
All the original content from Netflix is obviously coming straight to Netflix, but because these titles aren’t show in theaters anywhere, Netflix is missing out on some prestigious awards.
All the original content from Netflix is obviously coming straight to Netflix, but because these titles aren’t show in theaters anywhere, Netflix is missing out on some prestigious awards.
To fix this issue, Netflix is reportedly looking into purchasing theaters in the Los Angeles and New York area, to give their own original content the theatrical release it needs and quite frankly, deserves.
Back in December, Netflix released their original movie Bright, starring Will Smith.
This is one of those movies, that if not through Netflix, it would have definitely gotten a theatrical release given it was a star-studded movie with an expensive production.
If Netflix were to purchase theaters to release their own content on the big screen, it would make those titles eligible for big awards such as an Oscar.
Guess we’re going to have to wait and see what Netflix decides to do!
