Members Of Green Day Play Secret Show As ‘The Coverups’
After playing small shows under different names and disguises every once in a while over the past years, Green Day did it again: This time, the band played a small secret show in San Francisco earlier this week, under the name ‘The Coverups’.
Consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, touring guitarist Jason White, tour manager Bill Schneider and audio engineer Chris Dugan, The Coverups played a 90-minute set of covers.
Those covers went all the way from David Bowie to The Who and The Ramones, however when the small up-and-coming band was confronted with song requests by a band called Green Day, they jokingly maintained that they would be taking no song requests throughout the show.
Although not an official member of The Coverups, Green Day drummer Tre Cool also appeared on stage for their cover of the Ramones classic “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker”.
Every fan who attended the show was given a raffle ticket, some of which included prizes such as a guitar and a collection of KISS records, making for an all over remarkable night.
