Justin Prentice Reveals To Be Pissed Off With Bryce’s Punishment In ’13 Reasons Why’
In 13 Reasons Why’s second season we got to see the trial around Hannah Baker’s suicide.
At the end of the season, Bryce Walker was finally on trial for the rape of Jessica Davis and Hannah Baker after Jessica found the courage to talk about the rape.
It looked like Bryce would finally get what was coming to him, but in the end he was sentenced to 3 months probation.
Fans were furious over the decision, but they were not the only one.
Justin Prentice, who plays Bryce on the show, was as well.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight he explained why Bryce got this sentence:
“In terms of Bryce’s ending, it pisses me off. This kind of shit happens every single day in real life in favour of the rich, white, male students with promise and power.
Our show is fictional and there are dramatized events. But one thing that it tries to do is sort of mirror reality in a sense and kind of put up a mirror and spotlight the issues that our country is specifically dealing with, but really all over the world.
Bryce is privileged and comes from a powerful family. He’s a straight, white male, and so it’s easier for him to get off, and we see that happening all the time and it sucks. I know fans are going to be super pissed off, but you should be pissed off because that’s the reality right now.”
