Apple is now currently providing music to fans on two different levels.
They have Apple Music of course, which has been doing quite well since the start, but you can also purchase your music the old fashion way through iTunes.

Through iTunes, you purchase a single or a record online, so you can download it onto your devices and play it whenever you like, but with the given time and age, everyone is using streaming services and everyone has internet access pretty much at all times/

The rumour that Apple is shutting down iTunes’  music purchases & downloads has been going round for years, but it appears that Apple Music executive Jimmy Iovine has confirmed that the iTunes era as we know it is coming to an end.

He shared the news in an interview with BBC that  “when people stop buying. It’s very simple.”
Eventhough pre-ordering a record of your favourite artist is a noble thing to do, reality is it’s happening less and less due to the comfort of streaming services. Due to the recent return to CD and Vinyl purchases as well, the digital download sales have actually been lower than those of CD and Vinyl’s, while the digital download was at some point considered a savior for the industry.
