It’s less than a month to go until one of the UK’s favourite music festivals makes its big 2019 return: the mighty Reading & Leeds Festival. An impressive sell-out case occurred over at the Reading site, with limited tickets available for the jam-packed weekend at Leeds.

While providing an almighty line up on its bigger stages, Reading and Leeds is known for making space for smaller and independent bands. Local groups have now been added to the bill from Leeds based Centre Stage and Futuresound competitions, where bands were given the opportunity to compete in a musical talent contest to win themselves a spot on the line-up.

Initially launched 10 years ago by The Pigeon Detectives, Centre Stage has raised over £250,000 for Martin House Children’s Hospice for a platform of over 1,000 young musicians to showcase their emerging talent. Leeds punk band SCUM were this year’s winners and will perform on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds 2019.

Yorkshire rockers In Your Prime have bagged the coveted opening slot on the Lock Up Stage after winning the prestigious Futuresound competition and will play alongside the likes of Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, Dream State and The Maine. The runners up, The Loose Cut, Fudge. and Leodis will also be playing the BBC Introducing Stage

The weekend is set to include some unforgettable performances from this year’s headliners Foo Fighters, The 1975, Twenty One Pilots and Post Malone, as well as huge acts covering all stages including Billie Eilish, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Hayley Kiyoko, BLOXX, Machine Gun Kelly, A Day to Remember and PVRIS.
