Disney Announce New Pop-Punk Covers Album, Simple Plan Kick Off
In an exciting new development, Disney has announced the forthcoming release of an official pop-punk covers album titled A Whole New Sound, slated to drop later this year. This innovative project features a star-studded lineup of iconic alternative, rock, and pop-punk bands, each delivering their unique take on beloved Disney classics.
While Disney remains tight-lipped about the complete tracklist, they have confirmed that Simple Plan is part of the lineup. To celebrate The Lion King’s 30th anniversary, Simple Plan has recorded a dynamic cover of Can You Feel The Love Tonight.
“We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids, so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album,” said Simple Plan. Discussing their approach to the cover, the band explained, “We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
Fans can look forward to a fresh and energetic twist on their favorite Disney songs, with A Whole New Sound promising to bring a new dimension to timeless classics. Stay tuned for more updates as Disney reveals additional details and the full list of participating bands.
PHOTO REVIEW: A Visual Journey Through Simple Plan’s Captivating Performance
Simple Plan‘s concert at De Roma in Antwerpen was an event that fans won’t forget. With support from Air Yel, Mayday Parade, and State Champs, the night was filled with music that had everyone excited. Each band brought their own sound and energy, setting the stage for Simple Plan. When Simple Plan took the stage, they delivered a performance that lived up to expectations.
We saw the band earlier this week in Tilburg, you can check out that review here.
This photo review will take you through the night, showing how each band contributed to a memorable concert.
CONCERT REVIEW: A Night Of Nostalgia With Simple Plan
On a breezy February evening, the iconic pop-punk band Simple Plan reclaimed the stage at 013, turning the Tilburg venue into a sold-out sanctuary for punk enthusiasts. For us the evening started off with State Champs, the third support act of the evening.
State Champs were introduced by Queen‘s We Are the Champions. The band’s energy was infectious, compelling the crowd into a madness of jumps, claps, and crowd surfing. Their performance set a high bar for the night.
Then, Simple Plan came on stage with the Star Wars theme music, grabbing everyone’s attention right away. They played a great mix of new songs and old favorites like Jump, Astronaut and Shut Up!. Some of the older songs had to be sung in a lower octave, nevertheless, the vocal performance left nothing to be desired. The concert was visually stunning too, with confetti, big beach balls during Summer Paradise, and special visuals that made the show even more exciting.
At about two-thirds of the show, after playing two of their new songs, A Million Pictures Of You and Wake Me Up (When This Nightmare’s Over) they played a mash-up of famous cover songs All Star, Sk8er Boi and Mr. Brightside. During Where I Belong, they brought out both Dereks from the support acts, Derek DiScanio from State Champs and Derek Sanders from Mayday Parade.
Obviously, fan favourites Welcome To My Life, I’m Just A Kid and Perfect could not be missed. Even though the last song was a bit quiet and ended the night on a softer note, it was still a great show that proved why Simple Plan are so loved and how they can throw a party that everyone enjoys.
We can’t wait to see them again later this year at Dutch festival Jera On Air. If you want to check out Simple Plan at one of their shows this year, check out their show dates here.
