Where we live, The Netherlands, Nothing But Thieves are absolutely huge. They sell out club and arena shows just the same, so it was interesting to see Nothing But Thieves play the main stage so early on in the day. Nevertheless, thousands of fans came to watch the band play. Nothing But Thieves play their music exceptionally well live, but in the show-aspect of a live performance, they are not too flashy. The setlist also consisted of a lot of the same songs as the shows on the tour last year, with of course the new singles Welcome To The DCC & Overcome taking the place of some of the older songs.

Stricly music speaking, Nothing But Thieves‘ live show was a testament to their exceptional talent and artistic prowess. Their electrifying performance, combined with Conor Mason’s captivating vocals and the band’s unwavering energy really shines through and makes it abundantly clear that the band is as popular as they are.

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Bury Tomorrow Bring The Heat During Midday Show

Welcome to the ultimate celebration of raw energy, heart-pounding rhythms, and electrifying performances. During the sunny Saturday afternoon, Bury Tomorrow were our first act of the day. Now, to be honest with you, we have seen Bury Tomorrow a bunch of times throughout the years, and while they have always had an entertaining performance and some great songs, they never really stood out in comparison to other bands within the genre. This time, however, at least for us, that changed in a monumental way. It was Bury Tomorrow‘s duty to warm up the crowds for the rest of the day as one of the first bands to open the Mandora stage and that’s exactly what they did – literally.

Turns out the songs from the band’s new album The Seventh Sun translate exceptionally well to a live audience and Bury Tomorrow truly went all-out. Singles Heretic, Boltcutter and personal favourite Abandon Us had the crowd moshing, crowd surfing and jumping around to the point where the photographers were sent out of the pit early on account of the many crowd surfers. The combination of their explosive music and stunning visual effects created an enthralling experience that left an indelible mark on everyone who came out early to see the band’s performance. Their ability to seamlessly integrate pyrotechnics into their performance without sacrificing safety or musicality is a testament to their professionalism and dedication to delivering an unforgettable live experience.

The band’s tight musicianship, impassioned vocals, both heavy and melodic, and unwavering stage presence kept the crowd engaged from start to finish. Each member displayed remarkable talent and genuine enthusiasm, creating an infectious energy that rippled through the entire venue. Bury Tomorrow came across humbled, and ecstatic to be on the stage and the fact they brought pyro-technics even if they were ‘just’ playing in the midday, really is a testament to their drive.

Silverstein @ Rock Am Ring 2023

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Silverstein’s Captivating, Career-Spanning Set to Remember

Welcome to the ultimate celebration of raw energy, heart-pounding rhythms, and electrifying performances. It’s time to buckle up and dive headfirst into the world of Rock Am Ring 2023, where music aficionados from all walks of life unite under the banner of rock ‘n’ roll. Join us on this extraordinary journey as we witness the power of rock, metal and everything in between in all its glory. Rock Am Ring 2023 promises to be a monumental chapter in the festival’s storied history and you’ll find all the coverage you need right here at Strife Mag.

Throughout the years, I honestly cannot count on two hands anymore how often we have seen Silverstein, these guys are just that good. Be it a bit of nostalgia, but the Canadian emo-band keeps producing exceptional album after album, and with that cementing their place in everyone’s cold dead emo hearts for years and years on end.

Silverstein shared on stage they have not played Rock Am Ring since 2007, and even if they played while headliner Foo Fighters were playing the mainstage, a big number of fans came out to see Silverstein instead. Their setlist did kind of share the sentiment I just did in the paragraph above, that even with a lot of fans knowing Silverstein from their formative years, the setlist was surprisingly diverse, ranging from their first album all the way up to the most recent effort Misery Made Me. Of course, the usual suspects My Heroine, Smile In Your Sleep and Giving Up made the rounds, but a lot of newer material was also played in the 16-song setlist. Silverstein even played an incredible cover of Linkin Park’s One Step Closer. These guys have been around the block and it shows. Charismatic and comfortable on stage, Silverstein deliver live music of the highest order, while consistently treating the fans to that Canadian charm.

Last year, when Silverstein played the Dutch festival Jera on Air, we sat down with frontman Shane Told and asked him whether the band would ever play The Altar/Mary live due to the fact that it is an incredible song. You can imagine our excitement when the band did in fact close their set with the heaviest song they have ever made (The Altar), to then finish it off with an absolutely stunning solo performance of frontman Shane Told for the last part of the song (Mary). Silverstein are and will forever be a cornerstone in the alternative music community and we cannot wait for whatever they do next.

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Motionless In White Are Hauntingly Brilliant On Orbit Stage

Even if it has been just a few months since Motionless In White played shows all across Europe as direct support of Beartooth, we were excited to witness the band again. This time playing an almost hour-long set, Motionless In White came out swinging with a setlist mostly consisting of songs from the band’s most recent, and very popular, album Scoring The End of The World. Of course the setlist also included some of the ‘older’ fan favourites, such as Eternally Yours and Reincarnate. It is interesting to note that Motionless’ setlist did consist of all younger albums. It seems that the older work, from before 2014, has been replaced on the festival setlists atleast, due to the rise in popularity of the band in recent years.

If you have ever seen Motionless In White live, you know that Motionless In White‘s stage presence is a visual feast, combining gothic aesthetics, captivating theatrics, and elaborate costumes. The band members’ striking appearances, with their dark attire and intricate makeup, enhanced the ambience of their performance.

It merely adds to an already impeccable performance, as Motionless In White truly have mastered the art of live performance throughout the years. The musicians are comfortable on stage, and seamlessly combine musicianship with entertainment and if you ever do have the chance to see Motionless In White live, do yourself a favour and go for it.

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Set It Off Play First-Ever Rock Am Ring Show

Welcome to the ultimate celebration of raw energy, heart-pounding rhythms, and electrifying performances. It’s time to buckle up and dive headfirst into the world of Rock Am Ring 2023, where music aficionados from all walks of life unite under the banner of rock ‘n’ roll. While Set It Off have been a very well-known force within the alternative music scene, the band recently made the step to go independent. Fueled by their independence, the band have now released 2 songs on their own, booked an entire tour and festival in the US and are now winning over hearts in Europe at various festivals. Amongst those festivals, was the first-ever appearance of the band on Rock Am Ring. Set It Off had a tough timeslot to fill, playing the Orbit stage at the same time as Rise Against were playing the mainstage, but luckily, a lot of fans came out to see them and they were not disappointed. Set It Off‘s performance at Rock Am Ring was nothing short of exceptional. Their explosive energy, seamless genre fusion, and engaging stage presence created an atmosphere of unbridled enthusiasm.

Besides the new singles Win Win and Punching Bag, Set It Off played the familiars, including Projector, Killer In The Mirror, Loose Cannon and even switched it up with frontman Cody Carson and drummer Maxx Danziger switching places for the performance of Hypnotized.

The future is bright for Set It Off, and we cannot wait to see what’s coming next. Want to stay tuned on all of our Rock Am Ring 2023 coverage? Connect with us! and check the Set It Off photos right below!

YUNGBLUD @ Rock Am Ring 2023

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Yungblud Takes Mainstage By Storm

Welcome to the ultimate celebration of raw energy, heart-pounding rhythms, and electrifying performances. It’s time to buckle up and dive headfirst into the world of Rock Am Ring 2023, where music aficionados from all walks of life unite under the banner of rock ‘n’ roll. From the moment Yungblud stepped foot on stage, the atmosphere transformed into a riotous frenzy. His relentless energy radiated through the festival grounds, captivating the audience with a magnetic force. With every jump, scream, and passionate gesture, Yungblud commanded the stage with an infectious intensity that had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

While the set lasted ‘only’ 50 minutes, Yungblud did not skimp on the entertainment aspect of his show. While most of the songs on his discography are rather short, Yungblud only played a total of 10 songs on account of running around, having sing-alongs with the crowd and even turning the crowd against the people in the ‘posh’ seats. Real classy.
