Three Days Grace Reunite With Original Vocalist Adam Gontier

Three Days Grace have officially reunited with their original vocalist, Adam Gontier, following weeks of fan speculation sparked by cryptic online posts. The Canadian rock band confirmed the news, marking Gontier’s return after his initial departure in 2013. This reunion brings a fresh dynamic to the lineup, as Gontier will be joining alongside current vocalist and guitarist Matt Walst in a five-member powerhouse.

The exciting news was revealed yesterday (October 2nd), when the band shared a casual voicemail from Gontier to Walst on their social media channels. In the message, Gontier says, “Hey Matt, it’s Adam. I’m just running a few minutes behind, but I will be at the studio soon. If you could just let everybody know.” This playful message sent fans into a frenzy, especially considering Gontier had already participated in live performances with the band earlier in 2023, rekindling nostalgia with classic hits like Hate Everything About You and Never Too Late.

Now, it’s official: Gontier is back as a full-time member, joining a lineup that includes Matt Walst, bassist Brad Walst, lead guitarist Barry Stock, and drummer Neil Sanderson. Despite the changes, the band assures fans that their synergy hasn’t missed a beat. “It’s like we got back in a room together and picked up where we left off,” Gontier shared in a statement. “We’ve been friends for so long, it’s kind of natural to get back together.”

Walst, who has been with the band since Gontier’s departure, expressed his excitement about the new chapter. “It’s been so much fun and inspiring making this record. Combining over 20 years of Three Days Grace and doing something that no band has ever done. I’m excited for the fans to hear it!”

Three Days Grace, originally formed as Groundswell in 1992 by Gontier, Sanderson, and Brad Walst, later adopted their iconic name in 1997. With a series of chart-topping hits and a string of successful albums, their reunion with Gontier promises a bold new direction for the band. Fans can anticipate new music and a tour announcement in the near future.

The band’s most recent album, Explosions, was released in 2022, and it seems that the next era for Three Days Grace are poised to be bigger than ever.
