Netflix Announces Premiere Date And First Look Photos For ‘The Fall Of The House Of Usher’
In a thrilling announcement for fans of both classic literature and suspenseful television, Netflix has revealed that The Fall of the House of Usher, a highly anticipated series based on the haunting works of Edgar Allan Poe, is set to premiere on October 12th.
The upcoming limited eight-episode series, helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Mike Flanagan, promises to delve into the eerie and macabre with a contemporary twist. Set in a world of opulent wealth and concealed secrets, the story follows the ruthless Usher siblings, Roderick (played by Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline (portrayed by Mary McDonnell). Together, they have masterminded the rise of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, amassing a colossal empire of power and privilege.
However, the Usher dynasty’s grip on success begins to falter when the dark shadows of their past resurface. As a series of enigmatic deaths plague the Usher heirs, a mysterious woman from their youth emerges as the harbinger of doom, wielding the power to unveil long-buried truths that threaten to shatter their world.
The stellar cast is headlined by a lineup of industry heavyweights, including Carla Gugino, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney, and Robert Longstreet.
Flanagan, known for his prowess in the horror genre, not only conceived the series but also takes the directorial reins for four of the episodes. The remaining four episodes will be directed by Michael Fimognari. The series is produced by Intrepid Pictures, with Flanagan and Trevor Macy serving as executive producers alongside Fimognari and Emmy Grinwis.
Carla Gugino, who is part of the captivating ensemble, described the series as a rollercoaster of emotions, exclaiming, “It’s batshit crazy in the best possible way. It has quite a lot of very dark humor, but also really touches the soul. There is a fantastical supernatural element to the story, and [Verna] is the manifestation of that. You could say she’s the executor of fate or the executor of karma.”
