Download Festival Announce Special 4 Day Weekend For 20-Year Anniversary
Download Festival 2022 officially came to a close for another year on Monday after hosting the first full-scale Download weekend since 2019. Post-festival blues can hit hard, but Download organisers have found a way to ease the pain before some campers even get home to their own beds.
Next year will mark the festival’s 20-year anniversary and what better way to celebrate than announcing that Download 2023 will be bigger than ever, treating us to not 3, but 4 full days of music. The news was shared across social media yesterday with a limited amount of early bird tickets on sale now!
Let’s have a brief look at Download over the years, shall we? Originally created back in 2003, Download Festival was born in the wake of Monsters of Rock festival coming to an end in 1996 after just over 15 years. Donington Park in Leicestershire has been home to both of these festivals and continues to be a mecca for music fans decades down the line.
The festival has seen many changes over the years, what started as a 2-day event has evolved into a beloved 5-day camping experience attended by fans all over the world. Headliners over the years feature legends, such as; System of a Down, My Chemical Romance, Slipknot, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Linkin Park, Biffy Clyro, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Kiss and Black Sabbath, the list goes on. The festival has grown over the years, with the introduction of new stages, each year is a packed line-up, from seeing iconic bands to finding your new favourite band, it’s all possible at this magical weekend plonked in the middle of England.
What undoubtedly makes Download even more special is the fans. With message boards across the internet, Download dating events and dedicated groups for solo campers, so no person has to be alone, it truly is more of a community than anything else. All are welcome here. Whether you want to stand at the back of the main stage, be down in the pit, hit up the acoustic stage, zip line across the grounds, check out bands from the top of a Ferris wheel or rock the silent disco with your new friends, this is the place for you.
Download Festival 2023 will take place from June 8th to 11th next year. With updates coming regularly, keep your eyes peeled for more exciting updates of what is sure to be an unmissable weekend. Be sure to let us know your thoughts and who you would love to see on that line-up next year!
