A Quiet Place: Day One Footage Reveals New York City Setting
Paramount Pictures showed off some exclusive first-look footage of A Quiet Place: Day One at CinemaCon. The spinoff movie, set to be released on March 8, 2024, is a prequel to the hit horror franchise, and it promises to expand the A Quiet Place universe even further.
According to Discussing Film, the footage confirms that the events of A Quiet Place: Day One take place in New York City on the very first day of the invasion. In the footage, Lupita Nyong’o‘s character can be seen on a bus as meteors rain down on the city, setting the tone for a thrilling and terrifying experience.
Joseph Quinn of Stranger Things and Alex Wolff of Hereditary also star in the film. Michael Sarnoski, who directed the critically acclaimed film Pig, is helming the project.
While plot details for the spinoff are still under wraps, we do know that it was based on an original idea by John Krasinski, the creator of the A Quiet Place franchise. Michael Sarnoski and Jeff Nichols wrote the screenplay for the film.
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that the main A Quiet Place series is expected to become a trilogy, with Krasinski having hinted at the possibility of a third film in the franchise. The Abbott family’s story is set to continue, with Krasinski and Platinum Dunes producing alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller.
A Quiet Place Part II, the second installment in the franchise, opened to a whopping $57 million at the domestic box office in May 2021 and has grossed $297 million worldwide. With these impressive numbers, it’s clear that the A Quiet Place universe is only getting started.
