Bring Me The Horizon
Bring Me The Horizon were formed back in 2004, with the name being inspired by the 2003 movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Singer Oli Sykes, along with members Lee Malia, Curtis Ward, Matt Kean, and Matt Nichols, had established their own record label, Thirty Days of Night, to release their debut EP. In 2005, The EP titled This is What the Edge of Your Seat was Made for, was released. They eventually signed to a higher label called Visible, and reissued their EP to a wider audience.
Their full length debut album titled Count Your Blessings was released in October 2006, and was then released in the US the following year courtesy of Epitaph Records. Their second album Suicide Season, wound up cracking the UK charts. Not everyone in the band approved of the new sound, leading to Curtis Ward leaving the band in 2009. His replacement Jona Weinhofen ended up becoming a permanent member. In March 2010, they began working on their third album There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve seen It, There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret, which was released later in 2010. A fourth album titled Sempiternal, arrived on Epitaph in 2013. It peaked at #3 on the UK albums chart.
Bring Me The Horizon’s next album took a departure from the sound they started with. Released in 2015, the album That’s the Spirit, saw them drop their metalcore tendencies for a more melodic, alt metal approach. They captured mainstream ears with songs Happy Song, True Friends, and Drown. This album was their highest performing effort to date, it topped charts all across the globe, and peaked in the top 3 in England and the US.
In summer of 2018, they continued down the experimental path with the anthem Mantra, and the poppy song Medicine. Both tracks were on their sixth album titled Amo, which was released in early 2019. This album became their first UK topper. Towards the end of 2019, Amo received a Grammy nomination for best rock album. In 2020, the band had to write their next album while in quarantine due to Covid 19. This record was heavily influenced by the global events taking place. During the Summer, they released Parasite Eve and Obey, which was in collaboration with up and coming star Yungblud. These tracks were on Post Human: Survival Horror, the first installment of a multi-part EP.
In 2022, they did a string of collaborations, including Ed Sheeran (Bad Habits), Machine Gun Kelly (Maybe), and Sigrid (Bad Life). They returned with their own single Strangers In July of this year.
