PHOTO REVIEW: Against The Current Play Biggest Dutch Headline Show To-Date
After playing a signicantly smaller show merely 6 months ago in Amsterdam, Against The Current came back to The Netherlands to play their biggest Dutch headliner show to-date. While the band was initially placed to play in the ‘Next’ room of Poppodium 013, it sold-out so quickly, that the organisors decided to promote the show to their mainstage. As a result, more than 1000 fans came out for Against The Current on this very cold evening.
Armed with enthusiasm over their new-found independence with the first independent release being blindfolded, and of course a whole arsenal of songs old and new, Against The Current played a set, spanning their discography from 2015 EP Gravity all the way to the aforementioned brand new release blindfolded, which has raked in more than 600k streams on Spotify alone since its release on the 2nd of December.
Having seen Against The Current more than 10 times already, the band’s performance didn’t hold too many surprises, but it is a delight to see this band grow in their live music craft each time we catch them on the road. Vocalist Chrissy Costanza‘s energy and ability to jump around without losing quality in her voice never ceases to amaze. This band is having fun on the road, which became particularly apparent when they jokingly invited their merch manager to come on stage, to which he happily obliged, crowdsurfing from the back to dance around on stage for a bit.
Against The Current are just getting started and we cannot wait for their next chapter. We were there last night to witness the latest evolution of the Against The Current live experience and you can get a glimpse of what the show looked like via the gallery below.
