Halfway through the evening on the second day of Rock Am Ring, the truly unique BABYMETAL took the stage on the Mandora stage. Earlier that day, the trio already made an appearance during Electric Callboy’s set, where they joined the band on stage for the live performance of their brand new collaborative single RATATATA. Little did we know that later that evening, Electric Callboy would also join BABYMETAL during their own performance to play the collaborative song once more.

BABYMETAL’s performance at Rock Am Ring 2024 was a standout show that with impressive instrumentals, choreography, vocals and pyrotechnics. Known for their unique blend of J-pop and heavy metal, the Japanese trio brought their signature “kawaii metal” style to one of Europe’s biggest rock festivals, delivering a performance that was both visually and sonically spectacular.

ROCK AM RING 2024: Underoath Are Exceptional On Orbit Stage

After a few years of absence on the European festival circuit, Underoath made their triumphant return on Rock Am Ring this weekend. Last time around, the band played on the Utopia stage, which is the main stage. This time, however, the band played the smallest stage on the festival in the early evening while Billy Talent played the main stage.

Billy Talent’s popularity in Germany is astonishing, but luckily there were still a whole bunch of people who opted to watch Underoath perform live instead. One of the major highlights was their performance of the very popular A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White. As soon as the opening chords rang out, the audience erupted in cheers, and the band delivered the song with a raw intensity that captured the emotional depth of the track. Spencer Chamberlain‘s vocals were particularly gripping, seamlessly transitioning between melodic lines and ferocious screams. His singing voice stood out during the entire show.

Another standout moment was the performance of Reinventing Your Exit. The crowd’s anticipation was palpable, and when the iconic intro began, it was met with an overwhelming wave of enthusiasm. The song’s infectious chorus had everyone singing along, creating a powerful connection between the band and the audience.

Underoath’s set was a well-crafted mix of their classic hits and newer material, showcasing their evolution as a band while staying true to their roots. Even if their popularity in Germany has fallen a bit behind, Underoath are exceptional live. Their earlier songs have stood the test of time and their musicianship continues to impress.

ROCK AM RING 2024: Electric Callboy Draw Massive Crowd

If Electric Callboy were never to leave Germany again, we wouldn’t blame them, if these are the crowds that they pull in the home country. The band drew an exceptionally large crowd to the main stage around dinner time. If you have ever been to an Electric Callboy show, you know exactly what to expect, and if this were your first Callboy show, you could not have gotten a better introduction.

From start to finish, Electric Callboy came to party. Visuals, confetti, pyro, fireworks, the band brought it all alongside the usual gimmicks they have in their arsenal. Halfway through the set, the band were joined on stage by the esteemed Babymetal, who will be playing their own show later this evening. The two bands recently joined forces for the release of RATATATA and they have taken the opportunity to perform it together while playing the same festival. The attire from the music video was worn on stage by both Electric Callboy and Babymetal and the live performance was met with an immense amount of pyro. They clearly put some effort and planning into this performance.

In summary, Electric Callboy‘s set at Rock Am Ring was a standout performance that left a lasting impression. Their ability to engage and energize a festival crowd is a testament to their talent and showmanship. For those in attendance, it was a memorable experience that reaffirmed Electric Callboy‘s status as a must-see live act.

ROCK AM RING 2024: Against The Current Open Main Stage On Second Day

It is not possible for us anymore to count the number of times we have seen Against The Current live on two hands, but every time the band rolls through town or plays a festival we will attend, you can bet on it we will be there at the Against The Current show. The last time the band played Rock Am Ring was in 2019, when they played the Mandora Stage as one of the earlier acts of the day. This time, they had the honour to open up the main stage on the sunny second day of the festival.

Costanza’s voice was in top form, soaring effortlessly over the driving instrumentals provided by guitarist Dan Gow and drummer Will Ferri as they played a setlist filled with old and new and even found time for an ecstatic cover of No Doubt‘s popular Just A Girl halfway through the set.

Against The Current have done very well over the years, but their most popular song is the song they wrote for the popular video game League of Legends. The song, titled Legends Never Die, got an overwhelming response from the fans who came early to the festival to witness the ATC glory. In addition to the incredibly popular Legends Never Die, the setlist included a throwback to Gravity and a ton of the newer songs, including the band’s latest effort silent stranger.

Against The Current were a treat as always and we cannot wait for their next show.
