ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Green Day Close Out Day 1 In Style

The first day of Rock Am Ring this year was closed out on the main stage by the iconic Green Day. More than 30 years of experience and talent translates to an all-out, epic performance of 1h and 40 minutes, filled with songs from their extensive discography that everyone knows and loves.

In front of what must’ve been about 70.000 people, Green Day kicked things off with arguably the best-known song of theirs: American Idiot. When you attend a Green Day show, you don’t just get to hear the songs live, you get arguably one of the best shows that rock music has to offer. Merely two and a half songs in, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong already invited a fan up on stage to perform Know Your Enemy with the band. The fan that was called up on stage was no doubt a huge Green Day fan, as he was rockin’ their merch and was beyond ecstatic to be on stage. His energy was unmatched and it was an absolute treat to witness the chemistry between him and the band.

Another highlight of the show occurred literally one song later when Green Day played the iconic Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. The band requested the audience to take out the lights on their phones, which was happily obliged by the legions of fans. The result? Stunning. Check out a little video from the occurrence in the tweet below!

Green Day continued with a trip down memory lane, playing some older songs such as Longview and Welcome To Paradise, and Hitchin’ A Ride, which was met jubilantly by the crowd, but not with as much enthusiasm as some of the bigger hits did, but that makes sense with a crowd of around 70.000. Besides the many sing-alongs and regular crowd interaction in-between songs, Billie Joe Armstrong invited another fan on stage about halfway through the set during the performance of Knowledge (Operation Ivy cover) to play the guitar alongside the band. The band have been doing this for several tours now, and it’s still a treat to watch a star-struck fan being able to play with the band without missing up.

Around the end of the set, some more heavyweights entered the set, such as Basket Case, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and the lengthy and iconic Jesus of Suburbia. Traditionally, the set was closed out by Billie Joe Armstrong playing the acoustic Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life). Around the closing of the last song, confetti was sprayed into the audience and fireworks lit up the sky for a couple of minutes, officially marking the ending of an incredible day with amazing performances and epic bands. Unfortunately, Green Day did not allow too many photographers, but we did manage to capture the essence of the performance from the balcony (which was allowed, fortunately). ROCK AM RING REVIEW: 25 Photos From The Insane Stick To Your Guns Show

It has been a hot minute since we last saw Stick To Your Guns, but that made the return all the sweeter. The hardcore band from Southern California are known for their insane shows, which is probably why so many people came out to see them play, even though their time slightly overlapped with Green Day on the main stage. The other part of why Stick To Your Guns shows are just true carnage is because of their discography. The songs are incredible, but in a live capacity, they hit extremely hard. While it was hard to capture these guys jumping all around the stage on camera, check out some shots below to get an idea of what the show looked like!

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: Spiritbox Amaze In Front Of Huge Crowd

Rock Am Ring Review: Spiritbox Amaze In Front Of Huge CrowdSpiritbox, a relatively new outfit from Canada came down to Rock Am Ring to perform in front of a huge crowd, which came to no surprise as the band are seriously making waves with their incredible album Eternal Blue. The band has been doing very well in the US and apparently, also in Europe.

The outfit, surrounding charismatic vocalist Courtney LaPlante, who takes on both clean and heavy vocals, whose live performance exceeded our already high expectations. Spiritbox take their incredible songs to an even higher level in a live capacity and they look incredible doing it. With songs on the setlist including Circle With Me, Halcyon and of course Holy Roller, Spiritbox had the moshpits whirling. In the middle of the set, they took a step back from the carnage to perform Constance, a slower song about loss. LaPlante is truly a master of both aspects of the vocals used in Spiritbox and we cannot wait for their next run through Europe.

Check out Eva van den Bosch her photos in the gallery below and make sure to catch Spiritbox on the road in Europe!

ROCK AM RING REVIEW: The Offspring Are Back On Top Of Their Game

The slot right before the headliner Green Day on the main stage was filled by the iconic The Offspring. The band rolled into the scene in the early 90’s and are known as the innovators and legends of the punk scene in Southern California.

It didn’t take long before the entire world knew their hits, including You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid, The Kids Aren’t Alright and Self Esteem. To no surprise to anyone. the audience in front of the mainstage was filled for as far as the eye could see. Everyone wanted to see The Offspring back in action, who hadn’t played a show in Germany since 2019.

Kicking things off with Staring At The Sun, the tone was set for the entire performance, but the already energetic set took on even higher levels of excitement when the last couple of songs were being played. Saving most popular for last, the last 4 songs in chronological order were Pretty Fly (For A White Guy), The Kids Aren’t Alright, You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid and lastly Self Esteem. Props to the die-hard fans out there who kept those moshpits going for 4 songs straight, it was absolutely fantastic to see.

Luckily we can remember the set by some photos that Eva van den Bosch shot of their performance. Check out her photos right below and make sure to catch The Offspring on the festival circuit this summer.

Måneskin have been riding the wave of their incredible Eurovision Song Festival, and understandably so. Their ever-growing discography is very impressive and they are not showing signs of slowing down, with an arena tour planned in Europe early next year. This summer they will be on the festival circuit and lucky for us, were on Rock Am Ring’s bill for the Friday.

We saw the band’s extravagant performance on the mainstage, in front of an absolutely packed audience, as the band performed a set of their best hits including Beggin‘, ZITTI E BUONI and Supermodel. The Italian band truly put on a show and were definitely dressed to impress.
