Brendon Urie Donates $1 Million To Support LGBTQ Youth
But despite keeping busy with the recent release of their latest album “Pray For The Wicked” and their upcoming tours, frontman Brendon Urie still manages to just be an all around amazing person outside of music as well.
Not only is he working on launching a non-profit organisation for human rights, but he has also started things off by pledging $1 million to GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) to support LGBTQ youth in the US.
He will be working together with the GLSEN with the goal of creating student-led LGBTQ clubs, so called Genders & Sexualities Alliances (GSAs), at high schools all across North America.
You can learn more about the cause or make a donation yourself HERE.
His own organisation, the Highest Hopes Foundation, will be aiming to support those who are “subject to discrimination or abuse on the basis of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation + gender identity.”
Brendon Urie has shared:
“For years my fans have inspired me with their determination and creativity as they have created a safe and inclusive community. I felt the time had come for me to join them boldly, to bring that energy and power to bear on the huge challenges facing our whole society.”
What’s your opinion on these plans and the organisation? Where and how would you like more people to help and make a change for the better? Feel free to let us know!
